Looking to try this for my 1070. Can I unlock all shaders with this? Can anyone link me a TLDR that is up to date on this?

Oh TDP. Well I think under cool ambient conditions this laptop can take another 15 watts or more if I set fans to max, but I was really hoping that bios mod would unlock shaders. You know of anything that attempts to do that? Thats a 20% increase for certain applications going from 2048 to 2560 total shaders. I was under the impression that a bios programmer would do that with a 1080 bios.

Nothing currently known can unlock “shaders”. Nvidia manually disables cuda cores that are usually impossible to reactivate with a vbios flash.

nvidia disabled them with the "GPU microcode" since maxwell which nobody know how to acces/edit, and as far as I know it could be unlocked on kepler card (not with vbios modification)

Shader unlocking has been dead for a while. I think the shaders are laser cut now adays.

Update used the latest version on my VBIOS works like a dream thanks for the update @Coolane , as you can see from my signature I have been benching again which a GPU score of 14484 for a GTX 1060, still tweaking right now I have capped TDP to 125w increased the main temps from 59 to 62 and 65 to 72 which seems to help alot with clocks being more stable.

Let's see if I can hit 14500 before quoting benching for a year.

Anybody used this to mess with a 1070 Max-Q inside a Razer Blade 15?

EDIT: Seem to be getting bios cert 2.0 verification error no matter what version of nvflash I use ...

How exactly did you pull this off? I am just curious if I can do something similar with a 1070.

By using coolane's tool, then using a USB SkyPro SPI programmer , 1.8v adaptor and a 8 pin SOIC test clip.

@Khenglish did find laser cut on kepler core but not on maxwell core
You can also use a CH341A with "1.8v adapter" programmer, it work fine too while being cheaper :)
