Memory stick card pro duo stuck in Inspiron 1520, help?

Well i just inserted a pro duo stick in my inspiron 1520 in a slot that says

    "SD/MMC - MS/PRO"

But i think the memory card is small for the slot? Or is it normal?

Well now its in there, and not reading it, how can i get it out and make it work properly?

i believe you need to put the card into a converter to fit it into the slot correctly.

is the card in an SD converter?

i'm assuming not. i would try to gently pull the card out, with tweezers if need be. normally, to get an SD card out you push it in until it clicks, and then it pulls right out.

edit: in case others see this thread- there are a several ways to get it out, some of which are-

first of all, make sure your computer is off/battery is out before messing around with this to be safe.

a small tweezers (like comes with a swiss army knife) can work.

you can wrap a piece of scotch tape sticky side out around a piece of cardboard/plastic/paper and push it into the slot while holding onto both sides of the tape. then pull out the card. the tape will be stuck to the card and the slot. pull the tape by the side that is stuck to the card, hopefully this can get it out far enough to reach with tweezers/fingers/etc.

be gentle (as if you wouldn't) when doing this. word.

Hmm yes you would need to use an adaptor card for that.... Try turning off the laptop and gently shaking it so that the card slides or falls out... Be gentle there.... If you use tweezers also you must be gentle too ;)

Just for reference, you need something like THIS to have it fit properly:

See the large encasing on the left? You need one of those. If you bought a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo like the picture, then it should have come with it (I bought a 2Gig and it came with it in the packaging).

yeah, the inspirons and xps models dont read memory stick pro duo directly. the labeling implies memory stick pro, not pro duo. and like the others said, you need an adaptor.

Same thing happened to me. I put it in thinking it would fit and had to use some tweezers to get it out. Basically uou get this adapet with the memory card that makes it "biggger" so it fits in. I got the adapter with my memeory card, but then my card also came with a Sony Ericcsonn phone.

Good advice, I wasn't aware of this. I was thinking I could just pluck in that little card when I get it...hehe.

Luckily I too own a sony ericsson phone, which came with a pro duo stick and the adapter pictured above :)

This is not true, it does read PRO DUOs. I have a 2gb one in now. Its near impossible to get out, but it works.

I had the same problem. I put a memory stick pro duo and it got stuck. I could read the files on the card but couldn't pull it out. I put a sticky tape to the side of the card and pull it out with help of tweesers.

why not just buy the proper adapter that the card is supposed to slide into?

Sony MemoryStick Pro Duos require adapter for easy insertion and removal.
