Which of these two media suite software do you recommend: Nero 2014 Platinum 109.99$ or CyberLink Media Suite 12 Ultimate 134.95$. I know that a light version of CyberLink included my Alienware, but I want a full version. Give your comments about what is good and bad in these two media packets and who you prefer. The price does not matter only the product is good. Hoping for input from you. Thank you guys :hi2:

Nero FTW... one of the best products of its kind that I have ever owned. It is like a digit Swiss Army knife and everything it does it does really well. It is one of the few that I think is worthy of refreshing and I have upgraded versions probably a half-dozen times in the last 8 or 10 years.

Paired with SlySoft AnyDVD HD, there is nothing better for ripping BluRay and re-encoding it for movies on the go if you're a business traveler. I use Nero Video for all of my YouTube videos. I have Adobe Premier and don't even use it any more... too much hassle and Nero does a better job for what I do with it.

As is the unfortunate case with almost all software that is not a portable app, it want to phone home and check for updates, as well as run things at Windows startup. Just disable all of that crap and you'll be golden.

    Hello
Ps: As I've probably said, I hate everything which starts up on my laptop which uses hardware Resources

I have used Vlc media player until now, but I do not like the look of this software. How is the media player in Nero? Is it true that you lose your warranty also using this software?

VLC has been found to damage laptop speakers by overdriving them. If you break your Dell or Alienware laptop speakers using VLC to reach higher than intended volume levels this is regarded as user-induced damage that is excluded under the warranty. If they connect remotely and find VLC installed they won't take care of the blown-out speakers for you, but the warranty itself is not voided. Everything that you haven't damaged is still covered.

The media player is fine as far as I can tell, but I am no expert on it because that part of my Nero 2013 Platinum (Windows 7) and 2014 Platinum (Windows 8.1) suites does not hold a great deal of interest for me. I almost never use any media player other than Windows Media Player for music and PowerDVD for BluRay playback, so I am not the best person to comment on it. I stopped being passionate about listening to music on my computers a few years ago. I use Nero Platinum mostly for audio and video content editing and manipulation, and for the extremely rare optical disk burning tasks that I need to do.

Ferris23 is also another big Nero fan, and he may use it for different things than I do. Might send him a PM with a link to this thread and ask for his opinion about it.

    Hello
    I will do that :)
Even if you uninstall vlc, Dell can also see that it has been installed on the laptop to see the log of AlienAtopsy. It is important that those who complain of such damage on the laptop uninstall AlienAutopsy before calling Dell.

There is no room for comparison, NERO FTW

    Reason being

1- Install Cyberlink's suite 3 times and baam! youre license key is blacklisted! and good luck on waiting for customer service to reactivate it for you! I simply do not want to deal with ANY software that imposes limits on how many times I can install my paid license especially when it's on the same freakin' PC

2- NERO is like a swiss army knife as Mr. Fox stated,

you wanna burn a data, audio, etc. disc, simply launch Nero Express and look at the most beautiful and easy interface, no hard to learn menus, no extra gimmicks, a simply neat and nifty burner for all your needs.

Wanna burn a DVD Disc that is playable on ANY DVD player, usually, you would need to convert your downloaded video which was probably encoded as XVID, or Divx, or 3ivx or whatever codec, you would need to convert it into MPEG-4 so that it would work with a standard DVD player. But with Nero Video, you need not do that, simply drag any video you want to create a DVD and it does all the conversion before it burns the DVD, things couldn't get any simpler

3- Cyberlink adds a lot of unwanted startup services at least for such as the Cyberlink Remote Control, Cyberlink Startup service, etc. Nero has non other than Nero Update which you can disable

4- Speaking of raw burning, Nero has been for many years the industry standard for burning discs, their burning engine is on a class of its own, nothing comes close, never had a failed burn

I have used Nero for several years ago, so it is no more to think about. Then I go for Nero. Thanks for the clarification.

I have shopped Nero Platinum 2015 software. I bought it at a cheap price now on black friday at a price of $ 34.99. Is this cheap? :D Is there anyone who installs and uses Nero 2015 Content Packs? Is all this unnecessary software usable for anything or is it just unnecessary disk space usage?

I use it. It has video transitions, text overlay animations, background music, etc. I use those things for creating the content that I post in my YouTube channel.
