    Hi,

i have two Alienware Area 51m with 2080 Max-P. Now I want to downgrade the 2080 for one. I want a 100w TDP limit there. Please don't let's discuss the background. ;)

I have found 2080-Max-Q rom files on TechPowerUp.com, for example from Asus = https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/213643/213643)

Also a modified Nvflash64 Version (with Board Id Mismatch Disabled) = https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-nvflash-with-board-id-mismatch-disabled/

Can it works? I don't dare to do the flashing. ;)

    edit:

I dared. It works. I'll test something and then get back to you.

    edit2:

10 minutes „A Plagues Tale“ without fps-limiter and 1440p with high details:

    Asus Max-Q vBIOS
    Stock curve
    74 grad (original temp-limit)
    1530 mhz
    78 fps
    66w
    0,775v
    2000/1800 RPM
    225W complete power consumption

    Original Alienware 180w Bios
Curve with 1515 MHz @0,7v (fixed)
    74 grad (original temp-limit)
    1515 mhz
    88 fps
    114w
    0,7v
    2000/1800 RPM
    235W complete power consumption

Conclusion: it makes no sense (no lower TDP-limit - displays wrong gpu package power).

This is the big conundrum with these max q cards..I been trying to figure it out for awhile now..There's countless threads on here with people testing different vbios and everytime it was a max q to max p flash I didn't see a single one work...You can definitely go max p to max p,same with max q/max q..But nividia did some bs with these max q cards so people don't flash higher power vbios on them.

I got a 90-105w 10DE-1E93 vbios if you still wanna try flashing one though.I'd like to try the 180w to if you can link it..haha never know this might be the one that works.

Also since you want less power why not just undervolt in afterburner? Are temps to high?

I'm pretty sure there's also a 150w vbios you should definitely be able to flash since it's not considered max q.
