So we should hopefully have an announcement for this machine this month (hopefully today/tomorrow), anyone else looking forward to it?

It will finally adopt a physical escape key which is probably enough reason for me to trade up my current MacBook Pro.

It’s being said tomorrow may be the reveal on 9to5 Mac and MacRumors. Apparently Apple is having a press briefing, which is what seems to have raised the speculation. The Vega 16/20 MacBook released around this time last year too so I guess it makes sense.

Well I caved and bought one. It seems like the keyboard should be similar enough to the 2015 model that it would be useable for me. I have had trouble too getting my hackintosh setup with the Precision fully working so it will be nice to be able to reliably connect external displays again under MacOS.

    Much better.

This laptop is pretty much perfect, answers every criticism (except maybe a better FaceTime FaceID capable web cam) - ordered asap. I was not expecting the 100Wh battery, a huge upgrade to the current 83Wh of the 15" and has surpassed both Dell and Gigabyte (famous for 90Wh+ battery without bulge).

I think Apple has now taken the crown as having the best 15"+ laptop on the market again (they lost it back in 2015/16). This is definitely better than the competition in my view.

The 5500M has 22 CU / 1408 Stream Processors and is already better than the Vega 20 but the new MacBook is using an upgraded version, the Radeon Pro 5500M in the MacBook has 24 CU / 1536 Stream Processors.

I still prefer modular RAM and SSD but Apple is obviously never going to go back to that again. It would also be great if they offered a 17 inch model again with a higher end GPU and cheaper RAM and SSD options.

I purchased one, review next week.

I am confused on the GPU. Some people saying the 4GB model is 5300M whereas Apple themselves marketing it as 5500M with 4GB VRAM vs 8GB VRAM.

Anyone know which one it is?

BTW The 5500M Pro in the Apple laptop is the full 24CU card not the 22CU version of the non "Pro" model
