    Hi All,

I have had W10 working for a few years on this laptop with no issues.

Recently, it has started insisting that the dual video cards are AMD Radeons. I am not sure why it is doing this, but it means the device works but anything using the cards cannot be used.

Games just hang, which is not surprising. I have tried a bare metal install of Win10 and this has not helped.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Did the laptop originally come with AMD cards? If it did then this is probably the reason for Windows being stupid. It could have something to do with the system BIOS so I'd try flashing an Unlocked version and see if that helps or even start with re-flashing a Dell one. Flash at your own risk though.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, it originally came with nVidia cards - they were replaced by Alienware once under warranty - but no other hardware changes.

I have tried to reflash the BIOS with the one from the Dell site, not difference. Any thoughts on where best to look for unlocked BIOS versions?

Just disable the driver check and driver updates within Freakdows and do it manually, I'd never give such sensitive things like drivers into the hands of Freakdows...just my personal opinion!
