Hey guys long time I haven't posted here, hopefully the gurus are still around here since I really need some help, I just can't find any way to make my gpu work again.

Long story short, after my system did the April update it messed up my driver. Device manager showed the gpu liek if no driver was installed. So I tried to re install it, while it did install it didn't fix anything. It showed on Device Manager correctly, but with a warning icon so that didn't work. Tried with a newer one (I have been using 382.33-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql since it came out), same thing. I thought that I was modding it wrong, so I spent 2 days modding every single driver from 382 up to 397.64 with the same results. So I gave up and used the roll back feature...... Now back to pre April update, nothing changed.

So did a clean Win 10 OS install now I am able to install the drivers correctly and the gpu shows fine on the Device Manager, but not a single program or game is using it. Even if I force open a program using the GPU it still shows no activity on the taskbar nvidia GPU activity. I just can't figure out why even using the same 382 modded driver it just won't work.

Is there any one that can help me here? I just don't know what else to try or test right now. I modded nv_dispi.inf and nvdmi.inf files.

nv_dispi.inf mod was done as always following techinferno prev mods.

    nvdmi.inf mod:
    %NVIDIA_DEV.1C60.0550.1028% = Section339, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1C60&SUBSYS_05501028
    %NVIDIA_DEV.1C60.0550.1028% = Section338, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1C60&SUBSYS_05501028
    NVIDIA_DEV.1C60.0550.1028 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060"

    I'm using 391.35 drivers, here's my INF.

    1) Download the official 391.35 drivers from nVidia website: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/132841/en-us

    2) Open settings app>go to the recovery section>advanced startup

    3) In advanced start-up, choose the disable device driver signature option (it'll restart)

    4) Run the set-up file you downloaded earlier, when it's around 50%, open up the C:/NVIDIA folder and replace the INF file before it reaches 100%

    5) Install the driver as usual

Don't forget to change the file extension from .txt to .inf

I think I'm running the April update:

Well it's worth a try, I'll boot back to Win 10 and test this right away. Hopefully it's just that I have been modding it wrong. You didn't change anything on nvdmi.inf?

Nope, only nv_dispi.inf is in need of modding, at least for me.

I've seen so many issues regarding the windows 10 april update, wonder how microsoft screwed things up this time.

Might have to go back to 7 or even 8.1 at this rate.

Well this one definitely fixed something. Now I can select the gpu and games are using it, but I'm getting ~30% the performance I was having before. Even the video of firemark has bad fps. So even though it's getting selected. I simply can't run any graphic heavy software......Tomorrow I will run firestrike and log the usage, to see if there is something happening somewhere. I still can't understand why I'm having this bad fps. I don't have any software installed I just have a couple of updates, nvidia driver, 3d mark and my external HDD with my steam games.

I really want to do all my test on Win 10 before stepping back down.

Well I think that I might find the issue, I just don't know how to solve it. Here is a comparison between two of my results https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/15587063/fs/14308245# As you can see the processor max turbo clock is less than the half that it was before!! Anyone have any idea on what I need to do to solve this???

Alright so I have new findings the issue is that my CPU clocks are stuck at 1.2GHz it doesn't matter what the computer is doing. Either at idle or at gaming it stays stuck at 1.2GHz. I have tried re flashing A10 and A11 bios but the issue is still the same. Any idea where should I look at to fix this?

Go into the BIOS and make sure turbo is enabled.

Download throttlestop and make sure it's turned on, change the multiplier to the highest turbo setting and try again.

Go to the battery icon and move the slider all the way to the right for "maximum performance" mode

If none of this helps, try a different AC Adapter if possible. When I use the 150W ac adapter from an M14x, my CPU always stays at 1.20Ghz.

If none of that helps, you might want to try installing Windows 7 on a spare drive if possible to see if it has the same issue.

Here's what I am getting stock and slight OC:

I actually can't reach 10k Physics score anymore either ever since I updated 10:

Well it turned out to be related to power. It seems like the entire wall where my computer is always connected to is having some issues. I realized thanks to your suggestion about the AC Adapter. The bios didn't recognize what adapter was plugged in so after trying my 2 adapters I tried a different outlet on other room and everything works perfect. Went back to the same outlet, same issue. Many thanks for your time now back to installing everything back.

    Here's my new result https://www.3dmark.com/fs/15589251
