it may not fit the size perfectly but less half an inch on both sides are no big problems. what counts is the fan position fits the m18x belly vents. it aligns exactly where it needs to be. same goes for the m17x r2.

coolermasters U3 works well, its larger than most.

Allows you to put three fans wherever you want them, only downside is that it doesnt push much air, but its quiet.

Its what I use on the m17x r3.

For an 18" laptop either one of these coolers will do. I use the Coolmaster Storm for my 18" lappy. I also had the NZXT Cryo LX, but I accidently broke it. The Cool-master storm pushes a lot more air then the NZXT Cryo LX, and is loud at full blast. But, once I get into the game, with the speakers blasting I don't hear the cooler, or anything else -I AM JUST SUCKED INTO THE GAME (I hope thats not a bad thing).

Scanner, have you ever tried using the Cooler Master on your lap? I previously had the Cryo LX but returned it and am now looking at the Cooler Master as another option. It looks like it would be much more comfortable to use on my lap since it has more of a base and is apparently a good amount lighter due to being made of plastic. I'm thinking of re-buying the Cryo LX and getting the Cooler Master at the same time to compare, but some first-hand advice would be nice. :)

No, the cooler plus the lappy to big, not comfortable. I keep everything on my desk.
