I've asked numerous times and the best answer I've seen is "No". In theory, there is no reason it shouldn't work, the internal eDP is already wired for it.

Mux/demux chip on the board can't handle more than 1080p120hz or 4k30hz
    http://www.s-manuals.com/pdf/motherboard/compal/compal_la-9331p_rx00_schematics.pdf
    Displayport 1.1a max supported on PS8321 :
    https://www.paradetech.com/products/ps8321-21-dp-to-dp-mux/
and with optimus disabled the PS8338 should work since it support 4 lanes at display port 1.2 speed, but it's not rated for such use (4k60Hz) by the manufacturer so who know

however if you replace these by more recent one that support 4k60Hz, I don't see why it wouldn't work

The only upgrade you can get is a 2560x1440@60Hz (8 or 10 bits) display because 4 lanes DP 1.1 are enough to drive this, so all of these should work at 60Hz : http://www.panelook.com/sizmodlist.php?st=&pl=&so_attr=&sizes[]=1730&resolution_pixels=8380

There was an attempt for 1440p120hz but it didnt pan out, cant recall the source.

Could be that other options will work but no precedent for it.
