After 3 hours of trying to pry open the Goddamn glued Plexiglas on my M17x R4 which I heated to the point of starting to melt, the glue was so old and stuck it was just a matter of only brute force to pry it off, it broke as expected but it took some effort.

I was going to replace my LVDS 6bit monitor with a 120Hz 1080p eDP display I bought from Taobao brand new.
The monitor I bought was an Auo Optronics B173HAN01.6, my LVDS monitor is of Innolux brand.
I checked very carefully that the monitor I acquired was the same connector, same dimensions and width as all the replacement monitors you could get for the M17x R4 on various websites and eBay that list them specifically for M17x R4.
The eDP 40 pin 3D cable I acquired is the 2JD3N cable.

The GPU I am trying to connect it to is the AMD Radeon PRO WX7100 which supports eDP output even then I tried the eDP display on iGFX and it still wont work.

I receive 8 beeps suggesting GPU or screen connection issues. After another 3 hours switching screens back and forth changing BIOS settings I am frankly at a loss.
Does only specific screens work or do I require nVidia hardware only, and is there a BIOS blocking non-supportive monitors??

IGFX does not support 120hz screen. And IDK about your video card if it is even support 120hz screen. You might need a GPU that is 120Hz screen compatible. But thats my thinking after someone with other 120hz screen not working with a non compliant GPU.

Can you tell me which video card you have and what model number the eDP screen is on your Alienware?

So I have to get a 60Hz eDP display basically? Jesus Christ I see why some of the experts stopped bothering with "upgradable" laptops and just went for desktop, sorry its just getting too ****ing frustrating waiting for months only to receive parts that never work and having to ship them back.
If only *****in' Alienware let me use any video card with PEG mode with LVDS displays.

Do you know which model number the 120Hz 3D display is on the M17x R4?

I will try the 1060 on the 120Hz monitor once I mustered enough will to live to go through that pain again.

Ok , I'll do it when I get home from work.

And i have no use for it either as I sold a barebone without the 120hz screen to one of our member here.

If you are interested , you can buy it from me.
