Hey all, at the moment I'm having some troubles getting my 7970m working in my m15x. I'm currently using the 460m bracket so straight away this might be a culprit. Every time I turn off the laptop it will power on for about a second then shut off. It will either repeat this or it will power on but the screen will be black and the caps lock num lock ect lights will flash in indication that the gpu has caused the system to not post. Any idea's what this could be from, whether its a bad vbios for my laptop, dead gpu or the xbracket is shorting the system would be handy :)

You've killed your graphics card......460m xbracket is too small, likely shorted or crushed some capacitors on the back of the card. 6970M7970M/8970M/R9 M290X all use a wider xbracket than nvidia brackets.

the bracket you probably have on....

Well, the previous owner was the one who tried it, The gpu bracket was covered so it shouldn't of shorted anything and I modified the x bracket so It would not touch anything. At the moment I can get it to boot and I assume get into the bios as if I mash f2 it beeps then I press f10 and enter which is quit and save and the laptop will restart. Last night the screen would turn on too but it would be all black and no display on the external monitor
