    Hi all.

I stopped gaming on the little beast a while back after temps got silly and I got a new laptop and even though I still make music on it with reason, wavelab etc I thought it'd be time to breath some life back into the system.

Took it all apart and cleaned, updated to win 10, but temps were still too high when I loaded up fallout 4 so I invested in an opolar fan cooler. Unfortunately due to the positioning of the vent on the m11x the silicon sheath had to be slightly modified to fit around the hinge as to make a decent seal...but that wasn't too hard and in no time I could run fallout at decent settings with decent fps all without the pcu or gpu heat throttling which has always been a problem in this lappy from the start.

Really am very impressed with the opolar. I run at full speed and it isn't really that loud, (the fan in the video is my Dyson).

So, Elder scrolls online being my main game and mmo I thought I'd get that running, plugged in a controller so I could sit on the sofa , tweaked settings a lot, cooler pad and fan on and away we went. I've now even run vet dungeon raids all keeping above 20fps, 25-40fps most times. Played for 5 hours straight last weekend and temps stayed manageable with zero throttling the entire time. (The game runs with dx11 only since last update.)

    Love this system !!!

You mean one of these things? I am thinking of investing in one myself. How much of a difference in temps did you notice? What paste are you using?

Used arctic mx4 paste and yeah that is the cooler. There were better ones but not being sure on how effective they were I went for this for £20.

As well as the laptops vent being akwardly placed, its intake is in line under the case so the metal part you see there that holds the fan to the lappy, covers it slightly. I just machined a cut out at work just in case but it shouldn't matter too much.

I played for 2 hours on it last night and temps went to 72c in the heat of battle with effects going off. Before, temps just stayed in the 90's constantly throttling the gpu , Cpu. It also cools really quickly when not under load thanks to the opolar. Haven't checked idle Temps but youtubing 1080p barely warmed it up at all.

Hello Greylox, I bought 1 for myself but I can't seem to have it(Opolar) attached to my m11x, how did you do it? Mind to share a picture?
    Thanks!

i have one of those KLIM vents and indeed it gets awkward to attach so i just place it at the vent without fully attaching it. i dont game either way but want to preserve life & keep it cool as much as possible.
