Tight budget for a gaming system, but I would look at like xoticpc.com. Configured a Asus 15.6" with a Nvida 610M, 8gb of ram and a 128gb SSD for 943 (sans any discounts)

Get the powerpro 11:36 with the gtx 570m and leave everything stock. That should be around $950 cash.

If you can provide your own OS, this is the best deal you can get. and the 570M is very capable card.

That laptop starts at 1099.99, though it looks nice. Where do I find it for 950

    FORCE 16F2-012 / MSI 16F2

This would probably be your best bet.

Don't bother upgrading to the QM if you are on a tight budget, it wouldn't make a significant difference in gaming.

    You can also consider this

HP Official Store — Buy and Customize your dv6 and dv6zqe series PC direct from HP

It wont be anywhere near the GTX 570M, but it will still play Skyrim on Ultra at 1600x900, will be cheaper, and you will get that 5 hours of battery life. Anything higher will usually be a huge desktop replacement type machine with 1-2 hours of battery life, so this is a nice compromise if you want a gaming-capable normal notebook. This configuration comes with the highest A8 Quad Core CPU, an AMD 7690M XT, 1080p display, 8gb of RAM, and a 7200RPM 750GB HDD

Seems like a solid laptop. It says it has a 660m, but I'd think that its only for the top-of-the-line model, I don't think you'd get that at it's base price (900).
