    Not that bad looking..

Kinda like a merged Media Cordless Mouse and the MX1000

Those mice are way cool and I'm gonna buy one of them to use with my Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M3438G 17" DTR-notebook (and with my X-RAY Thunder 8 -mousepad). The only problem is which one am I going to get.

It terms of coolness, G7 takes the cake. I really like those colours it has (I'm told that although it looks like green, it's actually more blue). And it's a definate plus that Logitech has corrected some of the (minor) flaws of MX1000 and so G7 is more suited for gaming. Alas, the downsides are the batteryswapping (I mean who has the energy to swap one battery to the other in the middle of a gaming session). Also, the loading dock takes space and an outlet. Furthermore, I'm not sure if that flash-memory looking stick is the 'receiver' but if it is and if it is meant to be put to a USB-slot than that's a problem because the USB slots on my notebook are on the right side (where I keep my hand, mouse and mousepad). Also, the mouse is a bit on the heavy side. But it does look darn cool.

G5 looks like MX518 but better. It does have a cord and the cord makes it handy to a notebook-user, sort of a plug 'n' play mouse. Also you don't have a docking station and you don't have to sacrifice an outlet. G5 includes some weird weights with which you can regulate the feel and movement of the mouse or something.

I've understood that mice are identical in shape, so ergonomics are the same apparently. Also, both mice include those mousefeet (or skatez, made form teflon) that are already on so you don't need to buy any Hyperlides or anything anymore.

Okey, so it seems it comes down to this: G7s coolness vs. G5s notebookfriendliness. Which is going to be the winner?

    Any opinions?

damn those things are expensive ... considering I got my MediaPlay for 35 and at the time i thought it was a bit more than it should be ...

Ah well give it a few months and prices will go down ... but that G7 sure looks nice. I am gonna have to go test drive it ... I am way too picky over the feel of a mouse, i tend to prefer the ones designed for right and left handed people :D

The mx1000 currently retails at $90 CDN, and that's one hefty price tag.

I can see it starting at $150+ for them

i just bought myself the g5 the past weekend. great mouse. got it for about 50 bucks canadian which is pretty expensive for a mouse in my opinion but on the other hand after using it, it was worth it. i do some light gaming ( counterstrike source) and after getting used to the high dpi, I must say it was alot easier to aim and to look around.
