I would love to fit one of these on my Zbook 15 G1, the 1050Ti specifically.

I can only wonder how involved that process would be haha.

EDIT: Well I guess I can only keep on dreaming, because my Zbook isn't a dreamcolor model (as in non-eDP) which (according to what I've read) means 10-series GPUs are a no-go. Would the Quadro P-series be any different?

You should still have optimus, which means you would be able to run most of them just not in dedicated mode

That wouldnt be a problem for home use since I'm planning to buy a docking station/port replicator and running a dual-monitor setup (not counting the integrated display), but I would like to play games without having to hook up an external display hehe. Thanks for bringing optimus up, I forgot about it.

offtopic: would an M2200 do the trick then? It's a maxwell card so it shouldn't have any problem with an LVDS display, right?
It benches higher than both the GTX965m and M2000M at Passmark.

    M2200 should be a go
Also, to others interested, you can buy these MXM A cards of TaoBao, the 1050 TI is around $350

@Grant B Gibson Can you give a link to such a card on taobao or (even better) share the search phrase, which you use to find the 1050Ti MXM cards. For the life of me, I can't get their search to show me mxm cards, it only list desktop ones.

Okay, I took a look at what HP PartSurfer had on my specific laptop and it seems like it left the factory with an eDP display (attached screenshot from partsurfer). I guess It's only logical to assume my zbook's motherboard has an eDP connector, right? That should make me eligible to use a Pascal card :D

I'm pretty sure the person who sold me this machine (a refurbisher) had the display replaced (there's evidence of that on the edges of the lid, some cracking, also it's missing a screw). As far as I know, an eDP connector should have more pins and be electrically incompatible with LVDS displays, so even if the display was replaced, they must have used an eDP panel as a replacement.

Is there any way to be sure about this that doesn't involve tearing the machine down?

Run hwinfo, copy and paste the monitor info(model/partnumber) here.

    you mean this?
    - Chi Mei, Unknown Model, CMN15C2

attached is a screenshot of the relevant HWiNFO view.
It's funny, it reports a grayscale display.

    Thanks.
