Have any of you installed linux on an imac? Perhaps an older imac?

Their 27" 5k displays tempt me.

I don't have an iMac, but I do have a Mac Mini 2007. It cannot be upgraded beyond OSX Lion. So I installed Linux Mint on it a couple years ago. I don't remember having to do anything special. All hardware was detected and drivers installed automatically. Only problem was it only supported 32 bit OS. The processor is capable of 64 bit, but Apple goofed and made the EFI only 32 bit capable.

If you have your restore disks, just try an easy Linux. Many people like Linux Mint. (Also Ubuntu would likely install just as easily since Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu.) The worst that would happen is you would have to reinstall OSX from restore disks.
