Lightweight laptop with decent battery for older users (India)

    Overview: Looking for a thin and lightweight 14-15" laptop with a decent screen for older persons who are mainly using it for MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and the Internet.

    Need enough RAM (8+ GB) and preferably an SSD.

    Some I found based on quick searches, though I can't tell how good they really are:

    General Questions

    1) What is your budget?
    INR 45,000-60,000 (~USD600-800). Possibly slightly higher if it makes sense.

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?
    14"-15" screen is ideal. 13" may be too small.

    c. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
    d. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
    3) Which country will you buying this notebook?
    India

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
    a. Like: N/A
    b. Dislike: N/A
    5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
    Yes, if it is available there.

    6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
    PowerPoint, Word, internet browsing.

    7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
    Both. Power is normally available, but not always.

    8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? (If so, please state which games or types of games?)
    No.

    9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
    4+ is ideal.

    10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
    Either is fine.

    11) What OS do you prefer? Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Chrome OS, etc.
    Windows only.

    Screen Specifics

    12) What screen resolution(s) would you prefer? (See further below for explanations.)
    Any.

    13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen? (See further below for explanations.)
    Any.

    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
    No.

    Notebook Components

    15) How much hard drive space do you need?
    Minimum 250GB, ideally 500GB+ but that can be upgraded later.

    16) When are you buying this laptop?
    Immediately - want to take advantage of Independence Day sales

    17) How long do you expect to use this laptop?
    3-5 years.

    18) How long could you afford to do without your laptop if it were to fail?
    1 week or so.

    19) Would you be willing to pay significantly extra for on-site warranty, or would it be acceptable to you to have to ship the laptop to the vendor for repair with perhaps a week or more outage?

    The Acer Aspire 5 might be worth a look.

    The MSI Modern line is an alternative. In the US they would be in your price range, though I'm not sure about India.
    They are pretty basic notebooks but well-rounded when it comes to features.

    Thank you for your suggestions. The models in India are slightly different. We went with the HP 15s-eq0132AU
