There is not much demand for it as not many people use the numpad. I am just happy disabling it and using it as big arrow buttons and page up , page down, Home, End buttons. Very useful as those dedicated buttons have disappeared in most of the consumer line laptops and also the arrow buttons have gotten slimmer and smaller over the years.

Btw, we cannot expect a new 2022 LG Gram before April or later. Intel announced today the H series alder Lake processors, and at the same time announced that the P and U series will be announced later this year, not at CES.

Now I wonder if LG Gram gets U or P series. The U series has a max boost of 29W, not sure if this is PL1 or PL2. Knowing the current cooling solution only manages around 23W, but sensible boost for say 10 seconds is at 33-34 watts but after a minute no more than 27-28W can be cooled, it could be either.

I guess Intel is moving H series first because they are much more expensive (more cores). With the constraints on parts outside of CPUs, it makes sense to first move expensive CPUs even if maybe the margin is higher in U and P series (assuming a U/P series is half price of production cost of H series which has around twice the cores but only 50 percent more expensive to buy). Once ddr5 and Mainboards and so on are in large enough supply Intel will start delivering/producing the U/P series. And surely first we will get P, then U series if there is supply shortage.

The H series has too many performance cores to give a picture if idle/low power usage has decreased too by lots. I expect so for U and P series with 2 respectively 4 performance cores to be much more battery efficient. Maybe U series will be much better for productivity Vs P because it maybe needs much less power? I never trust that disabling of cores is as efficient as not having them in first place. So far idle power and low power was always better on smaller CPUs (in one generation) while from medium power use more cores were more efficient (as soon as you reach around 10-12W package power the tiger lake H is more efficient than U. But at websurfing and so on the U series trumps. Not sure how that is undervolted as only H series has undervolt for tiger lake). Good effect of this is that maybe U and P series come already with lower voltages, assuming undervolting is not possible. each stepping usually slightly decreases voltage as production is refined.

If the new alder Lake reduces power use by 50 percent, and that is quite likely plus there is a brighter panel (or semi reflective) I will for sure sell my old gram and upgrade to a 2022 model. Otherwise I stick for some more time until 20 hours actual use per charge and 500 nits screen with some coating is out. That's clearly the biggest improvements that could be done (well and centering the keyboard plus enlarging enter and arrow keys for me by getting rid of the numpad). Well and better speakers. Its a disgrace that speakers on smartphones rival or better most ultralight notebooks. Things became better in 2021 but from a level of trash. Until around 2014 most notebooks had way better speakers..

There are slight regional differences in packaging, the Asian versions come with Ethernet LAN adapter in the box, in fact mine is colour matched, White LAN adapter and White charger too.

It will likely take until April, more likely until May for Alder Lake lg Grams to arrive - all alder lake P and U models are earliest announced for those months. There are actually some 2022 lg Gram models - but they are just CPU refreshes with 1145G7 and 1195G7 on amazon and so on. Nothing actually new about them besides the CPU which will not run any faster as it's thermal constraint anyhow. Maybe they have a lower voltage/newer stepping - but the same could apply to 1135G7 and 1165G7 (it's normal throughout a year that the voltage is slightly decreased as production improves - but not as much as you would undervolt).
