    Hey Kalen,

thank you for your contribution to zoneykid and my "problem" with those gaming laptops.

You really saved my day Kalen. So if you say you can do some low performance stuff on this laptop and the fans are totally off it seems to be possible.
I don't know why many other owners say "yes the fans are quiet but always on".

You have the 15 inch model, right? Did you do the hotkey trick which zoneykid recommend?
Is optimus enabled at your laptop? Which BIOS version do you have?

Finally after 7 weeks of waiting my model will arrive at the end of next week.

    Nice weekend to you guys.

I do have the 15 inch 2060 model (ended up returning the 2070 Max-Q version because they gave me a better deal on the 2060 one). This is with balanced mode selected but not in Optimus; G-Sync enabled.
Hope you enjoy your laptop! I know I still am; It really is fantastic.

    Hi guys!

I am joining the Legion family pretty soon.
Ordered the 2070MQ 15" for $1350 (6% sales tax incl.).

Is the 2070MQ really slow compared to the 2060? Apart from gamerdad.ca, I have seen that the 2070MQ mostly beats the 2060 (both in a Y740). Is that really the case?
I went with the 2070 because the price diff. between the two barely $30 for me with all the discounts.

I think with future driver optimization you'll see better results than what I had; it was early in the RTX lifecycle. The additional CUDA cores and 256 bandwidth should offset the lower frequency clocks. Great price for what you got for sure!

Looks like Y740 is on sale again. Also, @B0B is famous now, the link to your video is now on stickied Wiki post related to this model on Slickdeals ;-)

2070 Max-q can be significantly faster than 2060 when it comes to min fps. You can see this in videos from OWNorDisown where he tested Dell models with same exact hardware, one with 2060 and the other with 2070 Max-q.

Shame its only about seventy bucks difference from my purchase.

Couple hundred and I'd probably call them on price difference

I dont know whether its because I have the 17 inch version, or because of the 2080 max-q, but my Y740 fans are always on. Although there would be thermal headroom to turn them off in idle (writing this, i get >40*C CPU and GPU temperature.)
Just experienced the fans out completely while writing this, but when playing a youtube video, the fans started to kick in just a tiny bit.
So maybe very light webbrowsing might lead to completely silent fans.
Have fun with the laptop and feel free to share your experiences with the community ;)

    Hello Alex555,

thank you as well for your contribution. :)

Ok that's everything i wanted to hear since i started the research and digging for every little new information about that laptop.

Mine is currently in the arabian emirates. It seems it doesn't arrive here within the next week (in total it will be 8 weeks of waiting).

Yes to say thank you to every youtuber, reviewer and forum member i will write down a short review as well as soon as my unit arrives.

Have fun with yours as well and see you soon!

I’m old. Can you explain what this Wiki post thing is you’re talking about?

Edit: ahh it’s something on the actual SD site. Got it! I must have missed that and I think I posted in that thread too.
