Cool. Did you notice any difference in test etc? Speedwise 2666cl19 is very similar to 2133cl15 while 2666cl15 about equals running ram 500MHz faster. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAS_latency that will probably give quite a bit more fps in games at lower quality settings that are not gpu-bound.

What are some good CL15 Modules 32 GB or Greater if they improve the bios.

You can't go beyond 32gb in the y740...

There about 4 kits out there.

    Crucial Ballistix this is CL16
    Kingston HyperX - CL15
    Gskill - CL15 I believe
Corsair Dominator ... I don't remember hearing much about these.

That is what concerns me. 2060 is the highest I've seen loaded onto this 9th gen systems.

Also hearing the 300 nit panel only supports Dolby Vision HDR when streaming content.

Definitely worth a call on Monday.

For everyone bothered by idle nose, I believe I have found a solution, it's been working for me so far.

Use fn+Q or ctrl+shift+1 to set the fans to max and then press it again to turn it off.
That seems to somehow reset the fan and it should idle at a lower speed from then on.

I've been trying this for a few days now and my fans will stay low all day until I do something intensive enough to ramp them up.

I may still play around with hacking control at some point but this is a much easier workaround. It also makes me wonder if maybe it's s bug Lenovo could patch in a bios update. Oh well.

    Hello zoneykid,

my heart beated up a bit when i read your post. Thank you for your effort and nice that you found this little "hint / bug".
As it seems that you are also a more sound sensitive man. What was your impression at night with this "lower speed fans"?

Today my delivery time has been reduced from early may to 23th april.
As soon as i get my unit i will assist you in modifying the fan control script.
It must be possible in any way to say / IF cpu and/or gpu temp is below 50°C set fan speed to 0 RPM.

If we get that it would be the perfect gaming notebook.

Just got notice from Lenovo that my custom Y740 15” has shipped from their warehouse. Arrival might just be before the weekend.

That is some mighty good news!

Ordered very first part of March.

Hang in there and keep the faith, those of the Legion who are still waiting!

    Cheers!
