The 500 nit Gsync screen is awesome and I would not get a laptop that does not have it and would not even consider the AW M15 due to the soldered on RAM with no upgrade options.
I only mentioned the AW price is because it’s like $500+ more for a similar equipped Y740 and you’ll get pretty much the same performance with a 2070MQ with both models.
That’s a pretty significant bump in price worth a mention I think.

The above still applies even when you compare it against the M15 R1.
Most reviews have the R1 CPU running even hotter than the Lenovo with some reviews I’ve seen at 99c-100c with extremely loud fans and thermally throttle.

This is a review with the GTX 1070MQ but it still applies to very high CPU temps because it has the same chassis

What Bios is the best for performance and cooler temps?
Is it easy to backflash and any links to download the best version?
    Currently it’s on v1.05.
Not sure if to keep it here or change it to a better one.
Currently pressing FN+Q just changes profiles from Quiet, Balanced and High performance, don’t really notice if max fans are enabled since changing profiles only briefly spool up the fans then settle down.

Question, do you know if the corsair iCUE SDK works with these lenovo machines? Like is there a way for me to make the per key lighting change based on CPU/GPU temps for example? Please let me know.

Sorry but I have no idea. I just got my laptop not to long ago and have yet to dive too deep into the settings for iCUE.
In general settings I’d does have a opyion for temperature units but not sure if you can bind those to the Y740 keys.
Maybe someone more experienced with the software could tell you more.

    Im in the software now.

Under general it shows temp units in degrees C as an option, can be changed to F.

has a check box for "Enable SDK"

Under "Sensor logging" you can choose CPU 1-6, CPU package, CPU load, HDD/SSD 1/2 Temp, GPU temp.

    Hope that answers your question.

So it does have an sdk, I just wish I knew which one.

On a separate note, has anyone installed the 76 WHr battery on the 15"? What's your battery life like in Optimus mode? Anyone have a link to buy that battery?

A question - has anyone found a solution to keyboard rainbow lighting, after a restart or when laptop turns screen off? I find it really annoying. Pressing fn + space solves the issue for me, but I am curious whether there is a permanent solution.

Alright just a update on CPU temps, I used TS to set the TDP and Turbo limit to 45W and it lowered temps by 10c.
Temps used to be in 92c when gaming and after playing for 3-4 hours straight yesterday highest temps reached 82c without noticing much if any loss in FPS.
