Definitely small potatoes. I was doing the same thing. Waited for RTX cards, then waited for 9th gen intel.... finally decided I couldn't find similarly equipped laptop for the price and ordered with the 8th gen.

Though it seems Lenovo cant figure out when they'll actually ship my laptop so I may end up without one.

And the 500 nits screen should hopefully make it. And you never know. The 2080 may make it but that’s unlikely but other country have it in the 15”
I having the 8750h. There’s no point chasing the 9750h unless I could upgrade to those things from the 2070 mq.

    Yeah...
B&H still list it as the 300nit screen, but CDW lists it at the 500. Of course, CDW also says the camera has a privacy shutter like other lenovos... so grain of salt?

No way this screen is 500 nits. Not bright enough in the slightest. And if they say 300 and 500 optional their should be a choice to select either in the customise or available in the highest modelled preconfigured ones.

Looks like that 500 nits screen is also showing up in the Lenovo X1E gen 2, slated to launch in July. No clue if it will be part of the launch options, but it appears to be.

It probably will be but X1E already looks way expensive even with coupons, the 64gb ram option is interesting but still all in all you would still get the y740

Gonna have to do some work in Throttlestop, what are good temps I should be aiming for?

Thought about killing turbo boost but that would probably be a mistake.

Go with Bob of all trades guide and just fiddle with the voltages from there.

I've goten about -170 core offset with -150 cache offset stable sofar while it still clocks 3.9 no problem.

Runs in the 70c range with mild spikes into the 80s with one spot in game hitting 90 briefly.
