I'm having an issue with my new laptop and I really hope someone can help me with possible solutions or at least explanations. Thank you in advance for reading about my problem :smileywink:

In short, I've recently purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad 520S laptop, with the following specs:

    Intel® Core™ i7-7500U 2.70 GHz, Kaby Lake, 14", Full HD, IPS, 8GB, 256GB SSD, nVIDIA GeForce 940MX 2GB

I was looking for a good compromise between mobility and performance (with a little bit of gaming capacity thrown in), and this is the best I could find within my budget. And, while overall the laptop works as well as I'd imagined, I'm having a really frustrating problem on the gaming front.

Specifically, while playing a rather old game (Mass Effect 1, for what it's worth), the laptop gets hot (to very hot) exactly in the much needed WASD keyboard area, thus rendering the game nearly unplayable.

Now, I fully understand that this is nowhere near a gaming laptop, but we're talking about a 10+ year-old game! Not only that, but I've played the same game before, on a significantly lower configuration, with nearly no issues at all. Actually, I've played many games on laptops with weaker processors and integrated graphics and haven't experienced this much heat.

So... has anyone encountered this issue with a similar laptop? And, if so, can anything be done about it? I find it really frustrating that I can't even play such an old game in decent conditions, not to mention disappointing...

Thank you so much for any advice you can give!
