Hi, i got plants and zombies, a popcap game with similar requirements to bejeweled. whenever i play, my temps go up to about 50 degrees. why? shouldn't my laptop temps stay at around idle or increase by 5 degrees?

    50c or 50f?

or are you saying that ur temps go up 50c?

If thats the case, then you have a problem. But if your temps are 50c or 50f then I dont see a problem.

that's a bit weird. How hot does your laptop heat up while playing 3d games? Maybe it's time to clean the dust and such from your fan and heatsink.

The DV5 models are notorious for running hot. Does the same thing happen when you play any other 3D games?

sorry snowmobile, what i'm trying to say is that other games that are more demanding do not heat up so much or heat up to the same level. is there something wrong wtih the plants vs zombies?

Most games like bejeweled do not use 3drendering, maybe there is something in this game that does, so your gpu & cpu start kicking out a lot of heat, but 50c is cool for a laptop.

50f is way too cold, condensation can kill the laptop if you move it around from cold to warm places.

50C is very cool for a dedicated GPU. You don't need to worry until your temps start reaching the high 80's.

EDIT: If you were talking about CPU temps, then you're fine until it reaches 70C.

Plants vs Zombies has 3d acceleration although I have no clue why. In the options there is a check box for use 3d acceleration so no wonder his laptop starts to heat up. Nothing out of the ordinary here. If you are really concerned about a little bit of heat just un-tick the 3d acceleration option and see how it does after that.
