    Hi there,

Couple of weeks back, I got myself a brand new Toshiba Equium laptop.
Everything works fine except for something that I can describe as a system beep, which occurs randomly (at least looks like that).

Did anyone see this before?

    Cheers,
    Paul

Is it a subtle beep, or is it a clear, audibe beep? I've heard cases of laptops beeping due to users overloading the keyboard and when it overheats, but not randomly.

It is a clear audible 1-sec long beep. Sometime it happens every couple of hours, sometimes couple per hour. I did a bit of research/watching and I could not find any relation between temperature and the beep.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Is there any way to shut it up? Apart from the hammer? ;)

I'm not sure if your's would be like my M60 or not, but I noticed when I was in the boot menu (press F2 in my case when starting computer up), that there was an option in there for enabling/disabling the system beep. Maybe yours is the same? I'm not sure, but it's worth a shot.

Well, I'd try Jenson's Idea of going into the System Setup during the Boot process. However, when the beeps occur, are they totally random, or does it happen when you run certain programs?
