Everyone was saying that the y740 is really quiet for a gaming laptop, so I bought one, but the fans seem really loud and high pitched under load. I tried putting it in quiet mode but it does nothing. What really bothers me is the pitch. It's like a high whistle when they are on. I've had gaming laptops in the past that were thicker, so even though they still made noise, it was more tolerable because it was not super high pitched. This is actually the loudest laptop I've owned in terms of fan noise. I'm thinking that it's because it's slim that the fans have a higher pitch.

    My MSI GE65 Raider 9SF (i7 9750H/RTX 2070/32 GB RAM/15.6" 240 Hz) gets LOUD while playing but I wouldn't describe the noise as "high-pitched"
