Is the wifi with the Lenovo Thinkpad T440 bad?

he says the wireless internet with it is very slow and often requires restarting the computer multiple times to get it to work.

In general when you buy a laptop what do you look for aside from information in reviews to find out if the device's wifi is good?

I wouldn't put too much stock into one video. While I haven't used the T440, I've been buying ThinkPads for years and have yet to experience any WiFi issues.

I mentioned this in the T440s Owners Thread to a similar question, but at least for me, with the AC7260 card, the drivers finally seem to be fixed, and most of the people who'd been complaining in the threads on the subject have either said that the new drivers work, or simply stopped adding to the threads.

In the few days that I've had my T440 I have had no issues with the Wifi. For what it's worth.

No problems with the Intel WiFi 7260AC card in my T440s. Great signal strength, bandwidth, and time to connection.

Only had one issue with the Intel AC on my T440s. For some reason it would not stay logged into the guest account at my office (which is set up in a similar manner to what you see in hotels, etc). It worked when the laptop was plugged in, but not on battery power. The fix was to change the power option setting for the card to max performance when on the battery. Problem solved.

IMO the rather complex options for configuring the wireless cards are behind many of the issues reported. People have been griping about dropouts, weak signal etc. with intel wifi cards for years and the solution is nearly always to a) check one has the latest drivers, and b) make sure the card configuration power options are set correctly (med. or max. power, no sleep etc.)
