Don’t buy it if you aren’t comfortable given a 1060 is not that new anymore and the model has been out for a while by laptop standards. Even with a great deal on an OLED model it still won’t be cheap as it’s clearly a luxury item.

Get one while you can....Didn't you just ask this question a few weeks ago? OLED panel is marvelous and I was debating a long time to buy the 13 just for the screen. I've demod one in person and it is truly stunning.

Well funny you should say. Ive found a gtx1050ti model with the base panel, its just coming out of warranty. How much battery life do the newer models with a gtx1050ti get?

Also is replacing the TN panel with the OLED beyond someone who can strip a maxbook apart? is there an ifixit screen replacement instructtion?

its $800usd. WHich here is VERY cheap, hopefully it stays at that price.

Ive just come from a gtx970m in my gs40 msi. to he honest it played everything on ultra except witcher 3. the 150ti is pretty much on par from what ive read. 11 series cards wont be out until end of year.

im not a huge gamer. im just wondering if i can get the oled panel on the sly/cheap as its $3k for the OLED machine here. i watch a lot of netflix/prime/youtube etc

Maybe others have tried it but from what I can tell it's not an easy swap given the assembly/frame is different (look at photos of an OLED model vs TN model).

IMO if you're on a budget then focus on what matters and then prioritise off that. eg. do you want sheer gaming power, do you want light and portable, etc... no point buying a premium product which is priced as such because it has great support or build quality if you're going to rip it apart anyway.

You can only replace it with the full display assembly. The screen lids are different and the panels are not interchangable. Also the oled panel is glued onto the glass touchscreen layer.

There are just no other OLED notebooks. Samsung Galaxy Stab Pro is a Windows tablet, the resolution isnt high but it is amoled. As are their 3 s tab etc.

Yes you need the full frame etc for the upgrade, Ive found a seller, Im just finding more info, but that one post does make it seem "possible"

    Lenovo has one too.

But not sure if the motherboard is different. The Oled versions do not support the MUX switch for some reason. Not sure if that is because of the Oled panel itself or the motherboard differences to run that Oled panel.
