You need the wi-fi card appoved by apple forfeatures like airdrop etc.

I have mac os running on my area-51m (no ethernet, wi-fi, thunderbolt, gpu acceleration, audio) basically useless
also on P870DM (no ethernet, wi-fi, TB works but only for display [no audio, ethernet, etc.], no audio) also useless

I'm sticking to my 2013 MacBook Pro for now. It was worth a shot, but I spent 2 whole days trying to make it work.

I need Logic Pro X & Final Cut Pro X so I need audio, thunderbolt, and gpu acceleration at minimum lol

Yeah, you'd have to have an AMD card for GPU acceleration. Apple doesn't have Nvidia drivers... Some laptops are better than others when it comes to running Mac OS on them.

Agreed, unless you want to stick with High Sierra, Nvidia is a no go and it seems that way in the foreseeable future.

Which is a shame, because tons of people want/need nVidia GPUs on their macs...

If GPU acceleration comes to Turing/Mojave, it's over. My Area-51m will have way more power than my macbook pro for rendering etc.

I have GPU acceleration working on the P870DM running high sierra and GTX 980.
