Hello can you please advice me?
I want to upgrade my current laptop (Hp Pavilion dv6-1310sv) cpu (Intel Pentium t4300) to Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T9400 or Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T9600 or the best scenario to an Intel Core Quad Mobile Q9000 or another Quad Core. I updated my Bios to the latest official version from HP. My mother board is Quanta (Hewlett-Packard) 3628 Chipset PM45.
Can i really do that? I am most interestd in the Quad core for more perfomance. Below are my CPUS AND MOTHERBOARDS EXACT SPECIFICATIONS. If anyone can advice me correctly about the compatible CPUS cause i am a bit frustrated i would be grateful.
    Thanks

    Hello there.

You can use any of the Penryn processors with a 1066 MT/s front-side bus.

However, judging by the high temperatures you're getting with the Pentium Dual-Core, I'm going to assume that the cooling system your machine uses won't handle a Core2 Quad very well.

Effectively, here are your options. Be very cautious with the red ones. If the manufacturer of your machine doesn't inexplicably list them as compatible, I wouldn't even bother trying. I've ordered them in terms of performance (the bottom is the fastest).
    • Core2 Duo T9400 — 2C, 2.53 GHz, 6 MB L2, 35 W
    • Core2 Duo P9500 — 2C, 2.53 GHz, 6 MB L2, 25 W
    • Core2 Duo T9550 — 2C, 2.67 GHz, 6 MB L2, 35 W
    • Core2 Duo P9600 — 2C, 2.67 GHz, 6 MB L2, 25 W
    • Core2 Duo T9600 — 2C, 2.80 GHz, 6 MB L2, 35 W
    • Core2 Duo P9700 — 2C, 2.80 GHz, 6 MB L2, 25 W
    • Core2 Duo T9800 — 2C, 2.93 GHz, 6 MB L2, 35 W
    • Core2 Duo T9900 — 2C, 3.07 GHz, 6 MB L2, 35 W
    • Core2 Extreme X9100 — 2C, 3.07 GHz, 6 MB L2, 44 W
    • Core2 Quad Q9000 — 4C, 2.00 GHz, 6 MB L2, 45 W
    • Core2 Quad Q9100 — 4C, 2.27 GHz, 12 MB L2, 45 W
    • Core2 Extreme QX9300 — 4C, 2.53 GHz, 12 MB L2, 45 W

    Best of luck.
    Dylan

Thanks for the reply DylRicho. I ll give a try for the quad core.
Could you also help me with my other laptop? Its a bit different,
Hp Pavilion dv5-1120ev, Cpu - Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo P7350,
Motherboard - Quanta 3603. I also updated it to the latest Bios official version from HP. I am also interested in the Quad core for more perfomance or a better than the current cpu. Below are my Cpu's and Motherboard's exact specifications. Can you advice me about the compatible Cpus.

The same processors are compatible. Again, I don't recommend a quad-core or Extreme processor due to the high temperatures.

Dv5 won't work with quad core Core 2 processors... Your best bet is a T9400/9900...

Unless it shipped out with a quad core CPU, it is highly unlikely upgrading from a Core 2 Duo to a Quad would work. Some DV7's were sold with C2Q's FYI.

Indeed.. Dv6 probably won't work however Dv7 has a much higher chance of working!
