Hehe! I have to write this here, I forgot. I was able to change the CPU with no sweat. Running smoother now with the T7300. ;)

    Lenovo 3000 N200 CPU Upgrade

According to CPU-Z this notebook has a Celeron M 540 1.86, Socket 479 mPGA and GM965 chipset. Can I swap in a Core 2 Duo T7300 or T8300? Any other CPU suggestions are welcome as well.

If your CPU-Z specs are correct (specifically with the GM965 chipsets), both of you should be able to use just about any Socket P processor:

    Core 2 Duo T5250 1500 2048 667
    Core 2 Duo T5450 1667 2048 667
    Core 2 Duo T5550 1833 2048 667
    Core 2 Duo T5750 2000 2048 667
    Core 2 Duo T5850 2133 2048 667

    Core 2 Duo T5270 1400 2048 800
    Core 2 Duo T5470 1600 2048 800
    Core 2 Duo T7100 1800 2048 800
    Core 2 Duo T7250 2000 2048 800

    Core 2 Duo T7300 2000 4096 800
    Core 2 Duo T7500 2200 4096 800
    Core 2 Duo T7700 2400 4096 800
    Core 2 Duo T7800 2600 4096 800

    Core 2 Duo T8100 2100 3072 800
    Core 2 Duo T8300 2400 3072 800

    Core 2 Duo T9300 2500 6144 800
    Core 2 Duo T9500 2600 6144 800

    ... and the Celeron M 550 isn't a 45nm part. It's Merom-L, like the 530, 540, 550, and 560.

CPU-Z is made for desktops. It constantly gets laptop specs wrong.

See the notes on the 960GL.

No word on Penryns yet. I haven't heard of a successful or unsuccessful GL960 Penryn swap.

Technically the 960GL is limited to Celerons and Pentium DCs, but socket P Core 2 Duos have been shown to work.

You can NEVER upgrade your GPU.
