You missed the best part of quote, the "same clock" results.. 8700k is near 0,5% more slow in ST than a 7700k at same clocks (4,5Ghz) look at Wprime, SuperPi and CB15 scores

If these are confirmed results, its better to wait a minimum of 2 next gen ahead from now

I noticed that, 0.5% to minus % single core results from 7700k to 8700k. Although I've now seen other "leaked" results that show a small 7% improvement in some tests, while there are some tests that show the 7700 better per core results. Overall 42% improvement from 50% more cores.

It's going to be a little while yet before we know for sure...

Single threaded benchmarks like Wprime and Cinebench are within margins. Below from Eurogamer.com-Core i7 7700K review Other reviewers can get different results. Higher or lower.

My own tests show you will get small deviation/differences. Compare Single threaded results in Wprime 32M vs. what you show in your pict. No big difference.

Edit. Intel Arbitrarily Breaks Coffee Lake Compatibility With Z270 Forcing Users To Buy New Z370 Motherboards-Wccftech.com

    Intel Representative via VCZ

"Getting the max out of 6 core processor required changes to our motherboards, specifically to provide improved power delivery to new 6-core processors.

We also took the opportunity to improve our overclocking capabilities by improving the package power delivery to the CPU. This is an another change that required motherboard changes.

We increased memory bandwidth on processor up to 2666 MHz that required another improvement on the motherboard layout."

"Truth be told the only apparent reason Intel is breaking compatibility with existing motherboards is that they’re simply after your money. Intel is a company trying to make a buck after all. If you’re upgrading to Coffee Lake from Broadwell or an older processor this doesn’t really affect you."

Intel Coffee Lake i7 8700K Review Leaks Out (Wccftech.com)
Since a ‘review’ of i7-8700K was already posted by Expreview, I do not think this leak will have a big value to you. What we have are official benchmark results directly from Intel’s reviewers guide thanks to our Chinese friends. Use this as a reference for upcoming reviews or compare values to your own CPU.(Zero increase in CB-R15 single core with 47x means same IPC as 7700K)
