I have installed the M.2 SSD drive without the screw to secure it to the MB, when I replace the back cover it holds down the drive, I use my laptop on the desk most of the time, is it bad for SSD or the MB?
Thank you in advance for any suggestion.

If it wiggles loose, especially while reading/ writing could lead to lost data. Not sure if it would physically damage anything, but why risk it? Find a replacement and rest easy.

Thanks for your advice, I'll keep looking for the screw, it runs a little cooler than when it was used in another laptop(with the screw), it's at less than 20° angle, so the air flow keep it cooler, I guess. Anyway, thanks again for your help.

If you need to get a replacement and are not sure what it's called, the screw type you would be looking for is an M2 screw. Be careful though, because they are not all the same length. When I was installing my M.2 NVME ssd on my ASUS Z170A, I needed at least a 6 mm long screw in order for it to even be able to reach the socket. The M.2 stick did not lie flat against the motherboard (as it probably shouldn't anyway). I would recommend trying an M2 X 6 mm (millimeter) screw first.

Thanks, I am still unable to find a proper size screw but the SSD installed without screw and stays probably at < 15° angle, so far haven't had any adverse effects, touch wood.
