Inspiron 9300 Powers up but won't Charge

    Hi All,

    Has Anyone had this problem with there Inspiron 9300?

    My system works fine when running from the Ac adapter but it doesn't charge the battery ( the battery is new from dell under the recall) i have replaced the jack socket on the motherboard myself but still no luck.

    wasn't sure if to buy a new battery or get a new Ac adapter next ????:confused:

    Anyone got any ideas plz ..... also to add in Bios say ac adapter as unknow device also cannot detect the battery :confused: :confused:

    Try and clean the contects on the battery and the notebook contects aswell. If your notebook is under warranty, then it may be a good idea to get Dell to repair it. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the reply,

    I have tried the contacts and still no good :mad:

    Unfortunatly its just out of warranty,also with me installing a new Ac jack plug onto the motherboard wont go down too well with there warranty.

    Oh well its still with the AC adapter for now ... just ordered a new adapter tonight so we will see if that cures it..

    It's probably the battery, especially if you didn't have this problem before you got the new battery.

    I am just waiting for the Ac Adapter to arrive then if no luck with that then its the battery next.
