I just bought an Inspiron 5150. I did mainly because of the good reviews and the long battery life. According to Laptop magazine, they played a DVD for 5 hours on battery. On Dell's webiste, they advertise up to 4 hours. Well, yeah, I got 4.5 hours but with nothing runing! With just the computer on, no application runing, the power meter set to max battery life, and screen brightness to the lowest possible. I ran Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 with Wilco publishing 767 PIC add on, and I only got 1 hour and 10 minutes. I ran a DVD, and I only got 2.5 hours. I played Airport Tycoon 3, and only got 2.5 hours. How is it that Laptop magazine was able to run a DVD for 5 hours and I only got 2.5 hours? I am now testing it again, with the sound off.

How much battery life are you getting out of yours?

Why not ask Laptop magazine? Perhaps they ran their tests with a different battery. I believe Dell makes an extended life battery. Since they got 2X more time you did perhaps they ran their tests with an additional battery inserted.
Again.. this question should be directed to the people at Laptop magazine. If you get a reply please update us here.
