Ah then, looks like you do indeed have the FHD panel, I remember that configuration.

At worse, if it turns out the panel is still a TN (I'm pretty sure Dell said they switched to an IPS panel) you can just switch it out yourself.

That's what I figured at worst I can switch out for a better panel for about $60. Was still a pretty good setup for the price. That's why I went ahead and ordered. Was nice to see original poster said even though his said a FHD 1080p that it turned out to be an IPS and not TN.

I just received my laptop today and I'd say either A The TN display isn't as bad as people are saying or B I definitely received a free upgrade to the ips screen. I see no fading or colour washing when I move the screen. It is crystal clear and looks beautiful. I would most likely think I did indeed get the IPS version of this laptop. I would have to say I agree with the original poster on this matter. I'm very happy with this laptop. its amazing.

Just tell us what the panel model is and we can tell you if it's an IPS or a TN panel.

Download and install HWINFO. Once you run that, under the monitor section it'll tell you exactly what make/model your display is.

That's an AUO panel, B156HAN01.x I'd reckon, one of the newer models (and not the excellent B156HAN01.2 that is no longer in production).

It's an AHVA panel, which is a similar technology to IPS.

So it isn't the crappy TN panel that everyone is complaining about in reviews then? Well I have to tell you, I have no complaints. This display looks great. Its nice and bright and crystal clear. Colour reproduction looks great to me. Im very happy with it. I gamed on it for 5 hours last night and no problems. no lag and everything ran smooth and looked great. thanks alot for all your help and maybe this thread will show people that yes indeed Dell has done away with that infamous TN display that everyone is complaining about.
