Don't believe everything you read on the Internet. They exposed a certain agencies ongoing 'cyber-attack' and the above is just the public resound.

Every single Virus scanner out there has the option to upload 'unknown' and potentially malicious code to their server for further analysis. In the case of the above company this can be simply opt-in and opt-out as per the users own choice.
Apparently the agent in question had this option enabled and disabled the entire scanner in order to install a malicious key-generator. When he re-enabled the scanner it picked up the Trojan as well as the classified agency code and uploaded it to the Kaspersky server for further analysis, just as it was set to do so by the user himself.

Most other scanner I have used in the past (especially those from the same large companies that are now recommended as the 'alternatives') have uploaded my genuine and harmless files to their server without my consent and even left me with messages like "less than 5 user world wide are using this code, so we have deleted/quarantined it for you"...because things automatically must be bad if no-one else has it, right?!

At least I never had a false positive with Kaspersky.

I've submitted this to the ESET Malware/Samples team [IMG]

It's not affecting my computer because I have the Anti-Coin filter in my AdBlock Plus subscriptions.

This is something really unexpected from them, I hope that I can get back my $100 membership.
I blocked them in my JavaScript settings in Google Chrome.
Edit: And I removed the link to my profile there as well, it was in my signature.
I was proud with my membership there, I have no idea what happened to them.
