Haven't heard anything, we're still working with the distributors on most of that.

8820HK laptop CPU has not been announced yet, according to a leak it exists (6 cores+12 threads) but no official confirmation from Intel yet and I doubt Asus will reveal it.
I think 8820HK laptops will not appear before January.

I think Chimera will be released with 7820HK in mid October and get a refresh to Coffe Lake in 2018 Q1.

If Asus was planning it with Coffe Lake then why advertise it everywhere with 7820HK and not just say "Unlocked Intel 8th Gen CPU" (to avoid voiding NDA) ?

The "8th Generation" name is likely trademarked and under NDA as well, it's Intel after all they are going to have an Army of Lawyers making sure everything is covered.

Asus does this a lot actually, getting in early 1st's and then riding it out until a new CPU / GPU comes along, and BAM! - another model in the new line that gets the marketing and production the initial models didn't.

Asus does this to work out the kinks in new technology, and it works for them. The early models are still very nice, very cool, and completely awesome to buy, but Asus is always coming out with a new model as new stuff comes along, so we expect it.

It's a very good sign that the Chimera is taken down just before the 8th Generation CPU's come out, it's a positive sign. :)

G701VI was not that great, it had a pathetic cooling design, both cpu and gpu had 2-2 shared heatpipes and thus both components were ovearheating and throttling when playing modern games.
The G701VIK not jsut had a CPU refresh but Asus made a brand new cooling design with separate cpu/gpu heat distribution and it did an acceptable job.

G703 is a further improvement of that cooling system.

Few days ago Chimera was pulled from the site and that was when they added the new infromation mentioned above.

I was thinking more of the GX700, GX800 series, but the G701VI went through it too, some initial designs are good to go like the water-cooled series, and some aren't.

Hopefully the Chimera runs great with the added power and thermal load brought by the additional 2c / 4t of the Coffee Lake #1 CPU.

Now, the only problem is, the laptop BGA version of the Coffee Lake isn't supposed to be out until Feb 2018... this first release now is LGA only, isn't it??

The GX ones caused some ruffled feathers, because everyone thought it was a full commercial release and pre-ordered the heck out of them IIRC.
