So I enabled iCloud Drive, hoping I could select specifically just a single folder in my documents folder, but it automatically enables for the whole documents and desktop folders together. It didn't let me select anything.

So I turned it off and next thing I know, my documents and downloads folder is empty...

Am I screwed? I have a older backup from a month ago for the two folders but lost new data.

Contemplating not using my mac anymore for school stuff and just lug around the Alienware...

I think you're fvcked. I've stopped screwing around with Apple's retarded ecosystem, I've had it harm me more times than help me. I manually manage all my content.

Yeah I normally manually move all my content from computer to computer. Just thought I'd give it a try and this happens. Never using cloud based stuff ever again.

I hope by backup back home isn't too old.

@Raidriar Does that apply to iOS as well? I enabled it on my mom's phone as well for backing up docs, spreadsheets and presentaion. Should I turn it off?

Be careful, make sure you back up everything before turning off

So does the data gets wiped or erased if I toggle it to OFF?
Lost some Garageband files my mom curated. I never noticed since she didn't complain.

I believe so, though if you turn off, it may just simply stop backing up, though i've had it delete my stuff before. itunes has done the same as well, which is why I make a full back up before I mess around with disabling things.

That really sucks, even their competitors don't wipe out the docs stored in cloud. Thanks for the tip. I stopped using iTunes and currently happy with 3utools. +rep added.

Yes please backup before turning off or you'll lose all your data.

Thanks. There was nothing important to backup, so I turned iCloud drive off.
