Whenever i try to play a dvd movie on my dell m90 (in my sig) i get this error message in interactual player: Error PL4013: Playback failed due to a problem with the video subsystem. You may be using an unsupported display mode or your system may not have a working decoder installed. Please ensure that your DVD decoder is functioning properly by launching it from Start | Programs. Click “Help Online” for details on how to correct this problem.

Aside from following its suggestion, look under Device Manager and see if there are any driver/hardware conflicts.

Also, make sure the region of the DVD you are trying to play matches the region setting of your DVD player. In simpler words, make sure you're not trying to play a DVD from Australia if you bought your laptop in North America.

Finally, it could be your DVD decoder died or is failing, in which case you can call Dell and open a case with them.

If you are running XP, update to the latest video driver and install/reinstall Windows Media Player 11 since it has DVD Decoders built in - otherwise install something like powerDVD to get the decoder...

Whenever I try to play DVDs w/ MP11, I get error messages- something about display and video card being not compatible. VLC seems to work much better

M$oft is too frikkin cheap to license a .MPEG2 decoder. Get FFDShow if you want to use WMP, or use VLC or MediaPlayer, both of which decode MPEG2 fine
