first off, horsepower is nothing, really it means nothing. What matters is torque. All gasoline engines suffer from low torque. The 6.5L detroit diesel has much more torque than the gasoline V8 the H1 has, and the engine the H2 has.
I dont know why people even rate engines in horsepower, it should be measured in torque, because that is what really matters.

I can clearly see you don't go off-road. The Porsche Cheyenne would have gotten stuck just entering the place we go shooting at, and I would risk added the Land Cruiser would have too.

If you want a real off-road truck, you can't just buy one off the lot as-is, and start taking it in dirty places... You'll get stuck the first time you do. The only exception is the Hummer H1, which needs no modifications to have fun.

Give me an H1 any day of the week, and I'll love that thing.

Also, what is making you say that H1's fail alot? (I ask, because my brother was a mechanic in the army for two years)

David; Low fuel economy, large car? Look at my avatar. I don't have the H1 on width, but I beat it on length, and I match it on fuel economy.

leaftye, a gasoline engine cant do what a diesel can. They have very different torque curves. The Diesel can put that torque to use at a very low rpm, whereas you need to rev the gasoline engine to near full rpm to get that rpm. Diesels have lots of low end torque, as they are a more efficient engine. They can out do even a gasoline engine which has the same torque.
The torque you see is maximum torque. If you look at charts diesels have power from the getgo whereas gasoline motors need to push hard to get the torque out

amm ... no. Depends on what you're doing with the engine.

like you can't race with your 4-cylinder detroit diesel .. lol.

you wanna bet, look up the bandag bullet. Its ridiculously fast, and its powered by detroit diesel 2 stroke motors.
a 4-53T cant accelerate very fast because almost all of the transmissions made for it are military grade transmissions from the 1950's which are geared for slow speed.

okay, point out one thing thats wrong in what you quoted from me

their is a reason trucks and military equipment use diesel engines.
