any idea when the new quad core version based on the 8th gen intel mobile chip is likely to be released? The competitors products from Dell and Lenovo have already been announced. Thanks.

I got the 15 inch model(8th gen intel) and I need to replace the ssd. I wanna know if the rubber feet are gonna be damaged when I open the bottom cover. If so, where can I get them?

Could you elaborate a bit more on your fresh windows install scheme? I just received a HP Spectre X360 13-AC003TU and had to do a factory reset due to a dodgy windows update (black screen after logon). Ever since its been a bit slow and windows update is now taking longer than ever. So I'm inclined to do a fresh install with minimal HP stuff. So far I have boiled it down to 2 methods:

    Method 1:
    - Create windows 10 installation USB using Media Creation Tool
    - Disable UEFI?
    - Run setup
    - Delete all partitions
    - Install Windows
    - Install HP drivers

    Method 2:
    - Use the Windows Refresh Tool
    - Install HP drivers

Hi everyone. Been looking into new laptops, and the spectre x360 is on my radar among others.

First question, does anyone have the new 8th gen with mx150 15 inch model? If so, how is it on gaming and heat?

Next, is the thunderbolt 3 a proper TB3 port and not like on the xps line where it's not fully 4 lanes?

Also anyone try an external graphics dock with it.

I did a complete fresh install with Media Creation Tool.
    Did not disable UEFI.
Deleted all partitions, inclusive recovery. (Made a backup to USB first)
Installed Windows and Realtek sound drivers, all Intel drivers and Synaptics touchpad driver.
Did not install any of the HP labeled drivers (e.g HP Wireless Button, not necessary, works anyway) and additional programs.

    Everything is working well.

    Hey guys,

Friend of mine just returned his Spectre because of the screen being broken (parts not lid anymore)
He's thinking about buying the same unit again, but I see a lot of negative things about this laptop in this thread. Would you guys recommend buying the HP Spectre x360 13-ac017nb?

Thanks in advance for the feedback

the new version has been announced and will be available at the end of the month. enhancements include - 8th gen 4 core processor, micro SD slot, better cooling and rear vent, finger print reader, privacy mode. i am glad i returned it. it’s a very nice laptop but the quad core is better for the apps i want to run.

Scooped up a 13" i7-8550U model yesterday, so far it's great. Gets a little toasty at the rear where the exhaust is, not a problem in laptop mode but could be a bit much when holding it in tablet mode.
