Not sure how old dv8000 is but if it is running a SATA drive before, it should be no problem.

I own a dv800 (dv8233cl) and have checked into putting an SSD in and decided against it. The dv8000 has a SATA 1 interface so it is limited to 150.Mb/sec. So the faster Sata 2 and Sata 3 drives will be hobbled by the Sata 1 interface. Also, since the dv8000 only has Sata 1, the better 7200 rpm hard drives can deliver that 150 Mb/s for a much lower $ per GB price. So I went with a Western Digital Scorpio Black. Decreased my windows load time by about 40% and I got 360 Gb for less than an older Sata 1 60Gb SSD would cost.
