    True.

The omen control is software fault but doesn't matter for use.

But the fan noise is not acceptable for office use, and that made me return my Omen.

Fans off only works when the temp for cpu is below 45 degree. Since I'm in Australia, and it's from summer to autumn here, you can't keep it below 45 when working on it.

GTX 860M (Maxwell version) is essentially the same as the GTX960M. They use same architecture (GM107), so it won't really be an upgrade unless it's a 965M+

*gasp! I may consider trading my current Omen in for one with the new gtx 960m. How exciting! I can't wait for word from HP on when they'll be implementing the new graphics processors.

Hmmm, that's a shame. What are the differences, then?

No differences what so ever in between 860m and 960m except 100mhz increase in clock speed. This results in 2-3 fps increase in games. Not worth to upgrade from 860m to 960m. Only make sense to
Upgrade to 965m + as these new gen GPU have 25%+ performance in terms of fps.

960m is basically a rebranded 860m only. However, with current memory of 4gb, my Omen is sufficient for some very high details on games except assassin creed unity & crysis3, where it struggles to maintain decent frame rate of 30+

Yeh... I was really hoping for a version with at least a 970 but knowing hp they wont take the hit on heat with such a gpu.

While putting in a 970m will help in games, but the thermals of Omen would have to be reworked to handle the heat ( a friend of mine has got the razer blade 14 2015 edition with 970m and he constantly complains of laptop getting extremely hot even after half an hour of gaming session).

One point I want in next iteration of Omen is to remove the God damn macro keys. Haven't used it even once after purchase of laptop and it has made life troublesome as whole keyboard is shifted to the right..
