You guys are AWESOME, thank you!!!

I have to ask what I hope isn't a dumb question,,,,
I'm going to be doing a fresh install on a new hard drive - will the dvd player still work when I put the disc in there?

It will still work, but you'll have to use software other than Windows Media Player to watch DVD movies. (they took out dvd support for windows 10 media player)

There is lots of choices you can find online. One is "VLC media player" which is free.

    Great, thank you!!

I just finished the install, and I can't get a couple things working - the fingerprint reader and to adjust the screen brightness with function F7 and F8 I believe.
The fingerprint reader shows shows it's installed, and I clicked on every application file in there but nothing comes up to allow fingerprint registration. Have reinstalled it several times. I'm using the software that was in the windows 7 pack.

I don't know what the problem could be with the function brightness - everything else seems to work.

Any thoughts or suggestions very welcome!!

The screen brightness keys work on mine. But a google search for "hp laptop brightness keys not working" brings up hp support links and YouTube videos on how you might fix it.

are you pushing (fn +f6-f7 ?? you can simply right click display settings and get it there for screen brightness, as for players I find media classic player (k-lite_codec_pack 1580 _full.exe when opened, right click and select shaders to sharpen you should find when playing vides of blueray quality its better than vlc player plus every action can be dune by using your mouse,

Thank you, I realized I didn’t install the hot key software, brightness controls working!

Anyone else had a problem with the fingerprint reader? The software says it’s a minimal install - is there a full installation of some sort needed?
