Oh I got that part covered as I always have been using it with an ethernet cable. But my habit to open a rather large number of tabs in Chrome is something that does not go over very well with the Dragon. And when I then decide to check out some videos on the side with all those tabs opened...

A mainboard from one of the workstations that works with an MXM graphics card but also with only the CPU graphics would be very cool!
I think that the Zbook G2 15" chasiss can be had for a very low price from time to time and I believe it even has a socketed CPU so that might be a candidate?
Or would it be better to look at what the Thinkpad community is doing as I hear that they are doing great things with older Thinkpads?

With the adapter that Remdale posted it may be possible to go with a wider range of mainboards so that would allow a broadening of the search.

It's like doing an engine swap on an old car. The body and chassis are good but the engine is struggling to keep up. I just think it would be a fun project to upgrade and breathe new life into this laptop instead of it sitting around collecting dust

Why do you think so? It's a standard mPCIe card, should be working fine

I was just kidding, really looking forward to hear how you can make use of it or if there are any unexpected issues.

is there a smaller version of this adapter? I imagine finding a new motherboard with the same connector would be a needle in a haystack. Then there's the keyboard connector and mouse connector and power and the touch bar and IR. Just a few things to get working...
