That'll be the day! Now if you could also unearth a supply of those 1920 x 1200 screens along with a compatible motherboard...

Do you want to use a bigger screen?

Not bigger, just higher resolution. Over here in Europe I would guess that less than 5% of all Dragons were shipped with the WUXGA panel so it is very difficult to find a machine with this display and there is the added difficulty of dea pixels that seem to be quite common with both screen types.

Oh my screen is the WUXGA and it's in perfect condition. Just the performance and blue screen issue mainly prevents me from using it

My question was addressed to sonic.screwdriver:)

I mean what's the point in doing motherboard swap in this case?

Well it was below my post and you di dnot quote him :)

My dragon still gets powered up ocasionally but with its quirks it is hard to use it the way I'd like to, Not surprising given its age and if there was a successor out there with a screen noticably larger than 17" I would probably have moved on but there isn't.

The idea of a motherboard swap has been raised before, and if it could be done it would be amazing to have a current performance machine in the Dragon form factor. After all it was the large and versatile screen that attracted most all of us to this device in the first place.

I even went to a meeting of computer modders and inventors, and handed out pictures of the Dragon with the notion of a motherboard upgrade. I must say that there was a certain amount of smugness among these techno-mongers.

So on my wish list it is motherboard swap first, and graphics board upgrade second.

    Yeah, my bad
Just pull out the plug and disconnect the battery. At least for Intel ME to not bother your wifi card when the Dragon is off:D
I will try to play around with ACPI tables at the OS level to make those load at least during OS boot.
I remember it well. But I was asking about sonic.screwdriver's particular case.
It would make sense if you could find a motherboard with LVDS output for that screen and which will fit your needs. Otherwise, you would end up using this thing
