I can tell... I rarely see any laptops with so many DOAs. Is the noise easily audible, or is it one that you have to lean down to the vent to hear? The Elitebook I believe has a fairly loud fan as well, but apparently TPFanControl fixed that issue by allowing you to run it very slowly. Would the TPFanControl work on the Envy as well? (would appreciate it if you tried it)

Anyway HP has given up, they finally want to process a refund that takes 45 working days for me! Should I feel happy or sad?

Hey I'm totally new to this forums, but it seems like a great community!
I just received my hp envy 14 beats today, and i wanted to do a clean install. I have a few questions if anybody can help me out.

1.Is there somewhere that shows step by step?
2.to fresh install is it the system recovery DVD disk? then the automatic update does the drivers for me?
    3. Do I need a serial code? for windows, usually under the laptop for other brands right?
    4. I ordered the 80gb ssd drive + 500 hdd drive, where do i find the 500 drive? (its not in the start menu/computer). i just see the 80gb one.
    5. Where do I check out if my video card drivers are up to date?

Sorry for all the questions, but if u know the answer to one of them or all, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Burn your recovery disc first.

Follow the following threads - should be sufficient for your needs

I'm still mailing back and forth with HP support about my Envy losing wireless internet connection immediately when the power plug is removed.. no wireless internet for me on battery power :( I've now tried just about everything, so now I think it all boils down to a hardware mismatch between network card and wireless router (although its a less than 1 yr old router, so this shouldn't be an issue...), or a badly written network card driver. Recently one of the people I live with bought a new HP laptop, and surprise surprise, that laptop has the exact same problem out of the box. Frustrating. Maybe HP should just send me one of their own routers or something :(
