@xacid9 one thing is for sure that gfx r frn 76xx series .. but no confirmation whether its 7690m or 7690m xt . but i guess it will be 7690m ( and hope it is ) coz 7690m xt might be for more expensive envy series ...

So got my dv6tqe, installed the 16GB and Samsung SSD, did all the SSD optimizations and got a HDD benchmark of 500 read / 300 write (7.9 windows exp) :D

I guess I went overboard with the RAM, highest use so far is about 4GB so I decided to install a 8GB RAMDisk for temp files, downloads and internet cache. Any other suggestions? I could go to 12GB and sell one 8GB simm, or just go 8GB single dimm and sell the rest but keep the slot open for a future upgrade. What do you think?

Oh and also installed Skyrim and Arkham City :D

i just ordered and would be upset if they somehow upgrade the wifi. Seems doubtful though since they use centrino 1030 for the blutooth option. Is a sales rep where you got this info? From what I have read and experienced, they don't know much about the hardware. But there is a location in the LCD for another antenna....

If you add any VMs, you will be happy with the RAM

Your wireless card is a BGN card. Not a ABGN. Therefore, it will only support 2.4ghz.

new here, didn't these laptops have the backlit keyboard option? whatever happened to them? thats weird considering it should be atleast an option if not a standard issue.

The dv's do not have a backlit keyboard option. I think the Envy series might. There is a sticky'd thread in this forum regarding mod'ing to install a backlit keyboard.
