    You've been stickied. :D

I added the Select Edition line to this thread too so that we won't have too many owner threads popping up all over the place.

Also have the NBR driver thread up too:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...dv7-6xxx-envy-14-2xxx-envy-17-2xxx-intel.html

Would it also be fine if the dv7-6XXX series be added to this thread as well? They are similar enough to warrant having just one owners thread for now, but it's your call.

It's nice to see it all in one lounge. :) Perhaps you'll add the Llano-based dv6z and dv7z when they come out? :p You guys neglect the AMD models here (except ultraportables)...

the E-350 demolishes the intel crippled atom crap. The preview on llano was running aliens vs predators and it was shocking that a built in gpu can perform very well. We will see how it stacks up to sandy bridge.

Hi I am just wondering if you order today/very recently/soon if you will get the new style body or the old one? My only real concern on this laptop is the touchpad clicker, the old model one is virtually unusable (hard to click, all one piece w/ pad) but it appears in the new model it may be fixed/better.

Anyone confirm with HP on which touchpad you get ordering the Sandy Bridge with the big discount? Thanks, this forum and everyone's contributions have helped a ton in my research for a new laptop!

    Dave

With the addition of the 500 coupon, the new dv6tqe is cheaper than what I had paid for my current dv6. Will HP refund the difference?

Where is this $500 coupon that everyone talks about? I had one for $325, which is the base one... They don't allow you to stack on the website. Are people calling their orders in, or getting a special code from HP?

Don't ya THINK that the $500 coupon was to clear the old stock?!? There is a $325 coupon currently available on the new model. How does the math work out using the coupons used on the intended models? I bet you can answer your own question. For ME, I could cancel my original transaction and create a new one under the current constraints and STILL come out ahead. If that doesn't apply to YOU too, don't you think you are asking a little much  ?

    people are funny.

The $500 dollar coupon was released in the end of Jan/beginning of Feb. They are now expired. However, those who ordered the previous defective dv6 with the coupon will be able to use it towards their replacement.

I purchased my laptop with the 500 dollar coupon BEFORE the Sandy Bridge defect was put to light. Obviously, I can't cancel the transaction because I already have the laptop in hand. Make sure you read posts well before posting arrogant and irrelevant answers.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

Also, I see that I can upgrade the RAM from 6gb to 8gb for $60. Can anyone tell me if I will see a significant difference with the 8gb ? I will not be using my laptop for gaming. If anything, just a little music production for fun.

    Opinions ? Thanks !

    EDIT: dv7tqe

I just ordered a custom dv7t Quad Edition 3 days ago, 2 days before the announcement of the new model. So, I went back and compared the custom build choices. I haven't had a chance to get into the details, but at this point I can see a few key differences between the new offering and what I ordered. There's a different finish on the case (both of which look fine to me), different video card options (Radeon 6490M and 6770M vs my 6570M), and the new version doesn't list an option for a full HD display (which I seriously considered but did not buy).

The spec-built price difference is about $50. I also received a 28% discount, which may not be valid with the new version. (In my case, that was worth $515+.) And, my build date is still two and a half weeks out (March 31).

So, here's a question for anybody that has ever placed a custom order during a model change transition. Is there really any chance that I'll end up with the new version? I wouldn't mind getting the 6700M series video card, but I wouldn't be happy with the 6400M series as a substitution.

EDIT:Oh, and does anybody know if the old model supports multi-touch on the touchpad like the new one?

I have mine in hand TOO ... got it last Friday. They cheerfully take refunds for the first 21 days ... at least they did when I ordered. I know that they made an (extended) exception for people who got shipped the defective Sandy Bridge models. I am NOT aware of any other exceptions.
